Session Spotlight: States Shifting from Fee for Service to Managed Care

More and more states are moving lives away from FFS and into managed care as a way to decrease costs, increase PCP accountability and ultimately increase health outcomes across their states. So what do they states that have already moved to Managed care have to say? And what have the outcomes been?

Session: States Shifting from Fee for Service to Managed Care

Panelists:
Lawrence Kissner, Commissioner, Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Medicaid Services, Kentucky

Christiane Swartz, Deputy Medicaid Director, Director, Medicaid Operations, Division of Health Care Finance, Kansas Department of Health and Environment

Robert Wychulis, Chief Executive Officer, Community Care, Amerigroup New York

This panel will discuss what it’s like to shift from FFS to managed care from a state and health plan perspective: Kentucky and Kansas made the switch to managed care from FFS, and Amerigroup New York just went through the state’s shift to mandatory managed care. During this session you’ll hear insight about what states and plans went through when making the change, and learn if it has improved members’ health.
