Teva settles Medicare Fraud Charges

According to Pharmalot, Teva will pay $169 million due to charges from several states and the US Government. They inflated medicine prices to receive larger reimbursements from Medicaid Programs. Read the full article here.

Maine looks to Wyeth for reimbursement

The state of Maine is joining 16 other states in filing a suit against Wyeth. According to the law suit, Wyeth has avoided paying the states their Medicaid reimbursements for the antacid drug Protonix.

According to the article:
Between 2001 and 2006, Wyeth offered discounted prices to thousands of hospitals in the country but did not report those discounts or pass along the benefits of lower prices to state Medicaid programs.

Baxter comes to settlement in Illinois Settlement

According to Consumer Affairs, the State of Illinois and Baxter have come to an agreement over a dispute where the company inflated the wholesale prices used in setting the rates for Medicaid reimbursements. The case was settled for $6.8 million and those funds have already been placed in the General Revenue Fund to pay Medicare bills. Read more here.
